• Let us cease treating the Evangelists as men on trial whose every word is suspect. When one of them is alone in stating something certain modern critics who pride themselves on their independence reject his testimony as isolated; when several say the same thing, it seems, we are told that they must have copied from one another and their testimony is equally worthless. Were such radical norms applied to profane writers history could not be written. Fernand Prat.
