Codex Vivens Repertorium

Introduction

Books I-VII

Supplement

Repertorium

This page is under development. It not yet of use to researchers.

Overview

This page provides information on the fontes essendi and fontes cognoscendi used in developing Codex Vivens. It also lists materials that were examined for possible inclusion herein but which were found to be, from a canonical point of view, insignificant--a piece of information that might save researchers the trouble of looking in them for something that, it seems, is not there to be found.

How to use

this page

Most users of this page will have come to it after using the Codex Vivens Books I-VII and encountering therein links to materials "Cited or suggested in" such-and-such a document. Simply word-search for the document in question for information thereon.

Some users may be interested in whether a given document was examined for possible inclusion in the Codex Vivens Books I-VII. They can begin their inquiry by word-searching for the document below.

All users of this page should, of course, be familiar with matters discussed in the Introduction.

Official and

Semi-Official Publications

Documents are cited according to the most authoritative publication in which they appear. Thus, for example, if the same document appears in both the Acta Apostolicae Sedis and Communicationes, only the Acta text is cited.

Acta Apostolicae Sedis – The official commentary (journal) of the Holy See and, per 1983 CIC 8, the primary vehicle for the promulgation of ecclesiastical law. Volumes culled: 74 (1982) through 94 (2002).

Communicationes – The official journal of the Pontifical Council for Legislative Texts. Valuable in its own right, of course, but of limited usefulness here in that some materials contained therein would have already been published elsewhere in a more timely manner. Volumes culled: 22 (1990) through 29 (1997).

L'Osservatore Romano – The semi-official newspaper of the Vatican City State (daily in Italian, weekly in English and several other languages). Occasionally used as a vehicle for promulgating normative texts, but not a major fons cognoscendi for canon law and not systemically searched herein.
